Command Shift
Commands/statements that Jesus made that changed/shifted life
Matthew 4:17 (NIV): From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
Shift in 2 things
Rom 6:23–wages of sin is death
John 1:29 (NIV): John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
1 John 4:10 (NIV): This is love…that [God] loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Hebrews 10:19–22 (NLT): And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean…
How do we repent?
Hebrews 10:26 (NLT): Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins.
Luke 24:47 (NLT): “There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.
Acts 2:38 (NLT): Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Hebrews 10:19–25 (NIV): Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body…22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings…23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
