How We Wait

Psalm 37:1-9 NIV - Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.

Wait Expectantly

James 5:7-8 NLT - Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen. You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.

Micah 7:7 NIV - But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Wait Graciously

James 5:9 NLT - Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For look—the Judge is standing at the door!

Lamentations 3:25-26 NIV - The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Ephesians 4:29 NIV - Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Proverbs 13:3 NLT - Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything.

Proverbs 10:19 NLT - Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.

Psalm 130:5-6 NIV - I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his Word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.

Wait Patiently

James 5:10-11 NLT - For examples of patience in suffering, dear brothers and sisters, look at the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. We give great honor to those who endure under suffering. For instance, you know about Job, a man of great endurance. You can see how the Lord was kind to him at the end, for the Lord is full of tenderness and mercy.
